Receipt-Cap Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Receipt-Cap ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares data when you use the Receipt-Cap mobile application and related backend services.

1. Data We Collect

Depending on which features you use, we may collect:

• Account and identity data: Firebase user ID, sign-in provider, email address, display name, and profile photo URL.
• Receipt content: receipt images, extracted OCR text, merchant details, receipt date, total, tax, fuel liters, payment method, and category labels.
• App settings and preferences: scan mode settings, backup preferences, and display preferences.
• Usage and sync metadata: timestamps, client receipt IDs, and technical metadata needed to sync your records across app and backend.

2. How We Use Data

• Provide core receipt capture, OCR extraction, editing, and organization features.
• Sync your receipts and categories between your device and backend account.
• Store and retrieve receipt images from configured cloud object storage.
• Enable backup and restore workflows (for example, Google Drive or local/device-based backups).
• Improve extraction quality through local and global learning patterns.
• Operate security and admin controls, including account status checks.

3. AI/OCR Processing

Receipt-Cap supports both local on-device OCR and optional cloud AI extraction providers (such as Gemini and OpenAI), depending on your app settings and admin configuration.

When cloud AI extraction is used, receipt text and image data needed for field extraction may be sent to the selected provider to return structured receipt fields.

4. Data Sharing and Service Providers

We use third-party services to run app features, including:

• Firebase Authentication and Firestore (authentication and account state/config sync).
• Google Sign-In and Google Drive APIs (sign-in and optional backup/restore).
• Configured AI providers for receipt extraction (when enabled).
• Configured cloud object storage provider for receipt images.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Tracking and Advertising

Receipt-Cap is not designed for third-party advertising or cross-app behavioral tracking.

6. Data Retention

Data is retained as long as needed to provide app functionality, backups, sync, security operations, and legal obligations. Backup copies may remain until deleted by you or by retention processes.

7. Your Choices

• You can choose whether to use AI extraction or local OCR modes (when available).
• You can choose backup destinations and can export or delete backups.
• You can request deletion of your account-related data by contacting us (see Contact section).

8. Security

We apply reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect stored and transmitted data. No security method is 100% guaranteed.

9. Children's Privacy

Receipt-Cap is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date on this page.
